With two beautiful, quaint areas, Fuquay-Varina was actually two towns until 1963, when the town of Fuquay and the town of Varina merged together with a hyphen to become Fuquay-Varina. Often mispronounced Fuquay-Varina is correctly pronounced Few-qway Ve-REE-na. Keeping it’s small town charm alive Fuquay Varina is conveniently located appx. 20 minutes to the capital of North Carolina, the city of Raleigh. Also, Research Triangle Park and Raleigh Durham International Airport will be a quick car ride on I-540 once it is completed. Town government understands the importance of managing this historical towns growth and so they are working to establish downtown Fuquay-Varina as a primary economic, cultural, and social center of the community.

Downtown Fuquay Varina offers plenty for shoppers looking for those one-of-a-kind special gifts. It is home to a varied mix of retail shoppes and service providers creating a unique place to visit, shop, eat, work and play. New businesses are moving there every day, along with existing business expanding to meet growing demand. A new cultural hub opened in 2019. The Fuquay Varina Community Arts Center with over 290+ seats is home to live theater from community and professional troupes, concerts, recitals and movies. Also, included is an ever changing art gallery, dance, painting and digital studios and classrooms for visual and performing art classes. Don’t miss the popular BBQ Blues & Brews Festival held each Fall. It combines three favorites BBQ cook-off, blues music and craft beer into one extremely popular community event. Rebel PT & Rebel Cycle has an important business model focused on helping women of all ages get healthy and stay healthy.
Restaurants
Want to grab a pizza and beer then make sure you visit Anna’s Pizzeria. This is their second location in the area and is widely popular with all ages. Love the smell of freshly baked bread then head to Stick Boy Bread Co. Josh and Kate opened this gem in 2008 and life in Fuquay Varina has never been the same. You’ve got your pastry now you need to grab a friend and go get some coffee at Cultivate Coffee. The roast and brew great coffee. The craft beer scene is strong as well with Fainting Goat and Vicious Fishes Brewery, Taproom and Kitchen just to name a few. Don’t miss out on some great smoked meats and delicious beverages as well at Aviator SmokeHouse and Aviator Brewing Tap House and Kitchen just down the street.
Wake County School System
Fuquay Varina is in Wake County and home to the highly rated public schools in the Wake County Public School System. There are also charter and private school options available. It is strategically located next to North Carolina’s second largest community college, Wake Technical Community College. It’s no wonder that the top companies in the world are flocking to this area given the proximity to three world class research universities: The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Duke University and North Carolina State University.
Recreation
Fuquay Varina is still home to loads of open space. Farm land and forest are easily found in this town. The Town cares for over 20 parks and more than 500 acres that contain playgrounds, picnic shelters, athletic fields and greenways. Some of the community events held are Celebrate Fuquay Varina, Halloween Trail, Egg Hunt and Tree Lighting just to name a few. Recently, completed The Park Depot Greenway adds 2 miles to an ever growing greenway system. In the hazy humid days of summer cool off at The Splash Pad open Memorial Day to Labor Day.
